The Houston SaberCats, a team born from the local Houston Strykers rugby club, have rapidly become a formidable force in Major League Rugby (MLR). Since their inception in 2017, the SaberCats have grown not just in skill and ambition but also in their loyal fan base. With a home ground at SaberCats Stadium, built in 2019, the team has established a strong presence in the city’s sports scene.

The SaberCats' journey is marked by determination and resilience. They have reached the postseason three consecutive times, in 2022, 2023, and 2024, demonstrating their steady rise in the league. The team’s ultimate goal is clear: to bring the Major League Rugby Championship Shield to Houston.

"We’ve come a long way from our early days," said a SaberCats representative, "and the support from our fans and the city has been incredible. We’re building something special here."

The team’s diverse roster, featuring athletes from around the world, embodies the spirit of rugby—strength, camaraderie, and respect. They are not just a team but a community, deeply connected to the vibrant culture of Houston.

As the MLR continues to grow, the SaberCats are positioning themselves as key players in the league’s expansion. With new teams joining from Dallas and New York, and talks of further expansion, the future looks bright for rugby in the U.S.

Aaron Wilson of SaberCats.com credits the team's success to their relentless pursuit of excellence and the passionate support from their fans. "Every match is a step closer to our dream," he said. "We’re not just playing for ourselves; we’re playing for Houston."

As the SaberCats prepare for another thrilling season, the city of Houston is ready to roar alongside them.

Obama Inspires Future Changemakers

At 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24th, nearly 100 high school freshman girls trickled into the auditorium at the Obama Presidential Center and sat in seats that formed a half-circle around the stage where the panelists were seated. Some of the girls conversed and laughed, while others danced in their seats to Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”  The event kicked off at 9:58 a.m. with opening remarks from WNBA brand strategist Nina Kossoff: “We’re powerful on our own, but when we come tog

The Pieces That Make the Picture: Paul Tetreault and the Art of Building Community

While we navigate change in our world, trying to fit each other together like puzzle pieces that don’t quite seem to nestle into the right cracks, art has a way of being the glue. Like a puzzle, every piece in the production of theatre has a purpose. Every production is made possible not only by the actors on stage, but also by directors, designers, educators, administrators, technicians, donors, audiences, and more. Each person is a piece of the picture, helping create something that couldn't
