Spring: A Season of Beauty and Rebirth
Spring is a season of beauty and rejuvenation. The Earth comes alive after the dead of winter, and Mother Nature rewards us with her blooms.
Spring Fashion and Creative Freedom
Spring is my favorite season for fashion because bright colors are in and muted colors are out. It is also a breath of fresh air for designers because it fosters creativity that is not limited by the restrictions of winter. The heavy wool coats turn into light cotton sweaters. The mini skirts come out to play, and vacation is just around the corner. The social season is in full swing, bringing amazing fashion moments such as The Kentucky Derby and The Met Gala in May.
Personal Renewal and the Wardrobe Purge
Spring is also a chance for us to come alive. Many people cleanse their lives by letting go of the old and accepting the new. One vital aspect of this cleanse is the yearly wardrobe purge. Going into the closet and removing the items that no longer serve us can be a great first step in curating a new look that reflects our present self. It is an opportunity to make room for new items in our closets while finding homes for the pieces we no longer need.
Sustainability in Fashion
A focus on sustainability in fashion has increased in the last couple of years. Textiles are sourced from a range of materials that can be natural or synthetic. Synthetic fibers such as polyester can take approximately 20 to 200 years to decompose in a landfill. The everyday consumer can help reduce these environmental impacts by purchasing clothes made of organic materials such as cotton. We can develop sustainable practices by avoiding throwing away clothes and buying curated pieces made of quality materials.
